MR FOLA OLADIPO ADEBOWALE (DIRECTOR FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS)
Mr. Fola Oladipo ADEBOWALE was born on 17th April, 1959 in Ijero, Ekiti State. He attended CAC Primary School, Ijero from 1966 – 1971 and Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero from 1973 – 1977. He later proceeded to Lagos State Polytechnic Isolo, Lagos, where he obtained Higher National Diploma in Accountancy in 1983.
He started his career as a Trainee Accountant with KPMG Audit in 1985 and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant in January 1988. After spending 11 years in the private sector of the economy, he joined the Federal Civil Service of Nigeria in December 1995 as a Principal Accountant and rose to the position of Director of Accounts in January 2013.
Since joining the service, he has worked in various capacities in the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Public Service Institute of Nigeria and Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment. After his promotion to the position of a Director, he was posted as the pioneer Director of Internal Audit in the Works and Housing Sector of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing (“the Ministry”) in April 2014.
In June 2017, he was posted to the Power Sector of the Ministry as the Director of Finance and Accounts. In November 2018, he was posted to the Works and Housing Sector of the Ministry as the Director of Finance and Accounts, a position he holds up till date.
Mr. Adebowale was the Accountant of the Commission of Inquiry that investigated the Management and Finances of the defunct NITEL/MTEL. At the Treasury Inspectorate Department of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, he served in several Adhoc Committees.
He is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Stockbroker, Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Chartered Tax Expert, Chartered System Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Accountancy from the Imo State University, Owerri. He is widely travelled and has attended several courses and training programmes within and outside the country.
The functions of this department are as below:
i. Planning, coordinating and control of the financial activities of the Ministry which include payment of approved expenditure.
ii. Rendering statutory returns to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) which include statements and Revenue Returns.
iii. Collection and remittance of independent Federal Government Revenue.
iv. Responding to Audit queries from the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly.
v. Processing of cash backing of all warrant released by Federal Ministry of Finance.
vi. Preparation of the Ministry's Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS).
vii. Preparation of the Ministry's Annual Budget and
viii. Monitoring and Evaluation of all Projects for the Ministry
