The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has installed and commissioned two units of 60MVA 132/33kV power transformers substations in Ojere, Ogun State.
Speaking during the commissioning, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Usman Gur Mohammed said the substations will further increase the grid capacity of Nigeria, and also improve electricity supply in Ogun State and its environs. He disclosed that the Company replaced the existing 2x30MVA 132/33KV transformers with the new power transformers.
According to the Managing Director, this will bring the substation’s capacity to 150MVA, saying the upgrade had greatly improved power supply within Abeokuta metropolis via Owode 33KV Feeder 1 and 2, and the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAB), saying the improved power supply would also boost socio-economic activities in areas like Imeko, Shagamu, Ibafo, and Mowe.
Speaking further, Mohammed said “the transformers installation project commenced in September 2017 and has been completed and energized. In addition, the dilapidated and unreliable 33KV indoor switchgear have equally been converted to outdoor switchyard for optimal utilization”.
One of the Community Leaders, Chief Bade Osinlowo, lauded TCN for the project, saying it had increased power supply in the area. According to him, more people had started moving to the community because of its stable power supply.
